The randomness that is my life

Lily wearing underwear and pants on her head. On purpose.

******

Lily was sick this morning and I decided to take her to the doctor. Carrying Lily and the toys she brought and my bag-the lady of course asks me for my insurance card. Um okay- with my other set of hands no problem. I put my bag on the counter to dig in that dang black hole of a bag, found it, then grabbed it again to put it back on the floor. The handles got stuck around a huge pump bottle of hand sanitizer and of course I knocked it on to the floor- however I thought I would try and be smooth and catch the thing. Um...no. Instead it hits the floor- pump part down and squirts out a stream of alchohol based sanitizer...into my eyes. Really? Really....?? Well, they took us right back to a room and saw Lily as soon as they finished giving me an emergency eye rinse. That's one way to avoid the waiting room I guess.

Heard this weekend:

Lily: Oh Barnacles!
Lily: Oh Pickles!
She's been watching a little too much Spongebob I think.
Lily: My poop was yellow like a rain cloud. (Um, sweetie, you're confused.)
Lily: Lets have a campout and sleep in the sleeping bag together and have a picnic.
(aww that's cute...except it was nearly 90 degrees in our apartment last night and I would have sweated us to death sharing a sleeping bag also I wouldn't wish upon anyone to have to share one single sleeping bag with anyone else. Torture I tell you. )

I was too slow to get the video but when we came home last night Lily was saying "Hi" to Floyd and she was being so cute. It's hard to type but she was baby talking him like "Who has a fat belly? You're so cute! You little Kitty!" I'll get it next time I promise.
Here's Floyd relaxing in the heat. Notice his back leg propped against the leg of the easel. It's really hot- if you hadn't already noticed!

This is where I got to spend a night this weekend...Lucky me!

This one wasn't cooperating for some reason and wouldn't rotate. So turn your head already.

Lily's "swims" at the beach

This is the first time Lily has ever gone to a lake to swim. The water was warm but murky and the bottom felt squishy. Needless to say, it didn't last long.

Cornstarch + Water = Gooey Fun

Lily and I had fun with our cornstarch and water experiment this week. We put cornstarch and added water little by little testing the consistency. When it gets just right it feels crumbly in your hand then all of a sudden goes goopy. Lots of fun- and it even stayed a relatively clean experiment-except for our hands. You can see Lily's face in most of these pictures saying "Eeewwww!"

And of course Lily giving Floyd a hug. Too cute.

Heard at Albertson's Seafood Counter this week:

Lily: I wanna go see the crabs!

Mommy: All right- there they are (whole crabs)

Lily: Ooohhh wow. And Mommy, what are those?

Mommy: Those are Lobster tails- that's the part we eat.

Lily: The customers cut off their tails?

Mommy: Well, no not the customers but the fisherman probably. See all the other fish in here? They catch it and then the fish die then we can use them for food.

Lily: I think the fish would rather be alive than dead.

Mommy: I'm sure you're right Lily.

A very philosophical thought for a three year old.

Am I raising a future vegetarian?? Who knows. I think this was the first time she connected the meat we eat with a living creature. I'm sure in her brain "chicken" that we eat just happens to have the same name as the farm animal. I'm don't think we'll be back to check out the seafood counter again for awhile though.

Thanks Auntie Maddie!

Thank you Auntie Maddie for the super cute princess dress! Lily loves it and she looks so cute in it too. You did a great job sewing and the ribbon matches perfectly. You're awesome!

Only me...seriously.

Lily and I are at the Sand Park. She is in the Baby Swing and I am pushing. She wants me to do an "Underdog" push. I push, duck under and feel sand hit the back of my legs. I realize my flip flops have kicked up the sand then realize the sand is tumbling down the back of my shirt- and...into my shorts. I kind of do a little "shake shake" to get it to come out but then feel that the sand is not just in my pants- its down my underwear. Short of stripping in the middle of the park I pretty much have to play for the next thirty minutes feeling a little bit..uh...gritty 'cause they closed the bathrooms at that park. Meanwhile Lily laughs hysterically at my shaking and repeats over and over "Mommy has sand in her butt!"

I swear only I could accomplish such a feat. For real.

She's so funny...

So my Facebook says Floyd is the new Lily-which in some ways is true cause he's new...
But Lily is still up to her old tricks....I swear this photo wasn't staged- My first thought was "Finally- I got a picture of the "real" Lily. The one behind all those cute cheek pinching photos"
This one needs a bit of explanation. Lily wanted to go to the park. I told her to get dressed. She comes out of the bedroom with a stack of 14 pairs of underwear in her hands, two already on her body and tells me she wants to wear 5 pairs of underwear to the park. I took a video but it's really long-because she's not an expert yet at getting her feet through the holes. Eventually she got all 5 of them on then went and picked out pants and a shirt. And that is how she spent the rest of the day.

Holiday

We had an awesome day yesterday. I don't even remember my head hitting the pillow last night- we were so worn out after all the adventure we had. But really our adventure started on Friday...we played at the Sand park- again- went Grocery shopping and then Uncle John brought his cat Floyd over for a weekend visit. The plan was to see how he did this weekend to get an idea if it would work for us to take him when John moves. Floyd was very scared for awhile and stayed hiding under the couch.

So yesterday we hung out at home until Auntie Joeleen and Uncle Dat came over and we all went to the Greenlake Wading Pool and Playground. Lily did such a great job at the wading pool- laying in the water, floating around and having a great time. I was so proud of her- she wasn't afraid and really just went for it which I was very surprised about- and happy. She really wore herself out doing that!
Then we went to the playground area to the tongue swing that she loves so much. It was so hot over there though! She was cool enough having the wind from the swing but I thought I was going to keel over and die standing there and pushing. We came back to the apartment- Joeleen and Dat bought us a fan- thanks so much guys- and thank God because it was a sauna in here. We had a yummy BBQ and dinner too if I must say so myself. Good food and good company! Joeleen got Floyd to come out from under the couch but then he went to hide in my closet. After Joeleen and Dat left we went on another walk and Lily ran around the field and climbed on the rocks at the park by Madison Pool. I can't believe she even had that kind of energy left.

When it finally got dark out we turned out the lights in the apartment and watched fireworks from our living room window. We actually could see quite a few. Lily was very excited and pointed out every one. Since they were far enough away they weren't that loud so she wasn't scared. When the Gasworks Park Fireworks started we watched them on TV and we could see the big ones out our window. It was really cool to see them in the sky- then the same thing on TV in just a few seconds. I don't remember seeing them from here last year- but Lily was asleep last year and couldn't have cared less I think. The firework themselves were so amazing though- cubes and hearts and planet shapes and shimmer ones and ones that hung in the sky forever. I liked it more than Lily I think. The music was awesome and went really well with the displays.Right after the fireworks as we were heading to bed Floyd finally came out from the closet and explored a little bit. I put his blanket on my dresser and I'm pretty sure he slept there most of the night- though he woke me up doing something at about 4:45 this morning (I think that is John's usual wake up time) by the time I sat up though to see what he was doing he was just staring at me like- "What are you looking at?" and now when we've finally gotten up and out of bed he's exploring all over the house. Still a bit skittish and not sure of Miss Lily ( she moves fast) but doing better.

Heard this 4th of July:

"I wanna go to the deep sea" (the deep part of the wading pool)
"Look Mommy, I'm an Angel" (Dipping the back of her head in the water and letting her hair float)
"Happy friendship day!"
"Happy first of July!"
"I think Floyd's looking for treasure."
"Mom...Floyd's looking at me!"
"Look Mommy...Floyd's following me!" (as she walks directly behind him)
"Meow!"
L:"Uh-oh! Uncle Dat and Auntie Joeleen left all their Root beers!" M: Root beers? Ohhhh...Roooot Beers. Yeah. No those are the empty ones. : ) Heehee.

Yeah for Flickr

Its a long story but I finally got my flickr account all straightened out and have quite a few photos on there I thought were lost forever! Right now I am missing for the most part January through May of 2007 (plus a few other selected months) but apparentlyI uploaded a few specific event photos onto flickr from that time period at one point. Later the account got "compromised" lets say. It took some creative maneuvering and...viola...here are a few I was really happy to see.

Lily at Eleven Months (August 2006)- Poppa's Back Yard
Lily At Eighteen Months (or so) March 2007- Playing with Bubbles
Only downside to Flickr- You can't download batches of Original file photos. Any photos I don't have I have to download to my computer individually and there are a couple hundred. Bleh. At least they are accessible...Hope you all have a safe and happy 4th of July- I'm so happy to have a long weekend and nice weather.
