Busy Busy Busy

Lily has been pretty busy the last two nights playing with her stuffed animals. It looks like there was an explosion of them all over our living room. I think it is about time we have a stuffed animal trade box- put some in storage that she can trade in and out because these guys are getting seriously out of control! Anybody want to donate one of those plastic storage tubs?

Lily this morning-snug as a bug in a rug. I guess playing with all those stuffed animals really wore her out because we were both asleep well before nine last night and this morning she was still totally out when it was time to wake up. I don't think she even flinched when I took the picture and the flash went off.

Here's a card I made last weekend. I saw another card with these kind of cut out flowers and it was tough to get right with the exacto knife but I think they came out well. I think I still might add a stamped phrase at the bottom but I don't want it to look too cluttered so I'm not sure yet. We'll see.

Last week when it was so sunny and beautiful, like today, I walked around the neighborhood here at work. There are so many beautiful trees and flowers and yards around here- it was a nice middle of the day escape for me. These are pretty much what I am going to get for Tulips around here this year since I don't think I have the energy to drive up to the Tulip Festival in Skagit Valley. I really LOVE going but there's always next year.

Grr.

I had a whole blog post saved to put up today but I saved the file in the wrong format so it won't open. Bleg. It's been one of those days. Here are some pictures anyway- I just don't have time to do much writing. Sorry.

Apellidos

It's all in the perspective I think. Last night we stumbled upon the topic of our names- our last names in particular. We spelled our first names and talked about all the letters in our names.

Mommy: What's your last name, Lily?

Lily: Lily McAdams. And Daddy is Derrick McAdams.

Mommy: That's right! You guys have the same name.

Lily: We match. But you don't have the same Mommy.

Mommy: You're right. I'm Sarah.

Lily scrunches up her face, leans in close then gives a little puff of breath on my forehead.

Lily: There. Now you have my McAdams. Now I'm just Lily.

I realized as I was typing that I didn't really want to post our real last names, so I changed them a bit- it kind of throws off the story but if you know us (or not I guess) you get the idea.

How very strange...

Lily and I had this conversation last night- though I can't remember exactly how we got to the funny part (this is the gist of it). We were talking about her day at school. There is one boy she doesn't like and always talks about how mean he is- I kind of hinted that it was really his behavior she didn't like.

Mommy: Sometimes he doesn't have very good behavior, huh?

Lily: Yeah. I have good behavior. Miss Jamine (one of her teachers) doesn't like crying.

Mommy: That's right. If you want to be in the big girl class you can't throw fits.

(Wait for it...)

Lily: Yeah. I don't have a heart. I have a brain.

(??????)

Mommy: Yes you have a heart- that's where you feel happy and sad.

Lily: No. See, I don't have a heartbeat.

(Okay, so it was a little creepy...)

After that she felt my heart beat and we went to sleep. I have no idea where the no heart only brain talk came from. But it makes for some interesting conversation I guess.

We had to get a new DVD player because ours went kaput and I can only handle so much actual television (increasingly annoying and inappropriate shows plus commercials encouraging rampant materialism really aren't my idea of a good time.) But I just got a cheap one from Best Buy- nothing fancy. Last night as I was setting it up I SWEAR!!!! I was hitting the eject button so could put a disc in but nothing happened. Lily crawls over to me (we're sitting on the floor) hits the button and it opens right up.

OMG. My three year old has a better grip on technology than I do. Seriously...freaking...me...out.

My most recent batch of cards

I don't have too many of the cards I've made on hand because I always give them away! Here are a few that are works in progress:

This is my workspace. Well actually its the kitchen table...It seems like I never have quite enough space- and I'm messy when I'm crafting. I only clean up when I'm done : ) Luckily Lily is gone for the weekend so I don't have to worry about her getting into anything.

This is the first card I worked on last night- a thinking of you card.

This is a set of 3 birthday cards that I am sending off to (almost) 7-year-old triplets. I have some "in progress pictures first"

Then the finished set. I hope they like them and have a great birthday!

Wohooo!

Lily walked up all three flights of stairs at our apartment all by herself. I was so happy I almost cried. I was beginning to think that I'd be carrying her up those stairs for the rest of her life- or at least until my elbow gave out. Hooray for Lily for having the confidence to do it herself! And hooray for me for saving my arms.

Talk to me...

So I pose a question to all my reader's out there- what do you want to hear about? Should I keep my blog for the most part about what Lily and I are up to? Anyone want to hear about my crafty projects? What I'm reading...movie reviews (yeah right). Also I love getting your feedback- any feedback at all..even just a hello. I love doing this blog but I want it to be interesting too...so give me a shout! Thanks!

Mini Me

Last night we were watching Veggie Tales and Lily said, " This is a scary part Mommy- you can't watch!" Then put her hand over my eyes.

Later she was trying to mover her easel out of the way to see the TV from the dinner table and said, "I'm gotta move this piece of junk!"

Then getting undressed it was, "I can't get these freakin' socks off!"

It sounds a lot different coming from a three year old's mouth than mine that's for sure...

Last night she wanted to take a bath- no wait, I wanted her to take a bath and she seemed ok with the idea and asked if she could wear her new swimsuit in the tub. I said, "Sure, why not?" but then she wouldn't get in because she didn't want to get it wet. She sat on the edge of the tub and just put her feet in. Silly Girl.

Anyway- she's been doing really well these last few days- things that normally set off a really long tantrum have either been ok or not too long...yeah!

SPRING!!!!!!

My sandals are officially out of the closet...to wear I mean! I busted out my Capri pants today too because it is nearly 70 degrees! Yipee! My mood has improved drastically for these facts alone...well along with the fact that I've had a great couple days off/long weekend. This is what we've done the last few days...

Visited Gramma Deb, Grampa Bruce and Mamma, went to the very last appointment to check Lily's leg (we're in the clear!), had our "Mommy and Me" picture taken, went to the park and had a picnic, painted a birdhouse (and other craft projects), played soccer in Poppa's backyard and later we'll hopefully make it to the Library and Grocery store. We've been busy that's for sure but the nice weather makes it so much easier!
