Molly Hightower was a volunteer at an orphanage in Haiti. She was killed by the earthquake last week. This is her story:

What an amazing  person. I didn't know Molly personally, but we need more people like her in this world.

How will you change the world today?

  1. I don´t know anything about helping people in Haiti, but I do know that there are other ways to help change the world.

Check out Kiva.org where you can make microloans directly to people in developing countries. You can lend as little as $25 as part of a larger group of lenders. The recipients use the money for their businesses, etc. to help secure a better life for themselves and their families.

Microlending and Microfinance take on a whole new personal connection this way, rather than simply as a donation to an institution. Even better, once the money is repaid, you can lend it out to another person if you wish.

Today I am going to visit 2 of the women who I have loaned some money to through Kiva. It´s not much, but it´s something.

My heart breaks for all the people whose lives have been destroyed by the earthquake in Haiti.
